After yesterday’s travels into Napa and quick start to the wineries, why don’t you relax at our award winning Spa at Silverado with a Silverado Massage for 80 minutes and enjoy the luxury amenities. The Spa opens at 7:30 am plenty of time to fit in brunch before heading out on your second day of wineries. Speaking of brunch, The Oxbow, only 10 minutes away in Downtown Napa, is a foodie’s version of heaven. Much like a farmer’s market, this 25 artisan food vendors ranging from organic produce to bakeries, to spices and oysters and the best part is that it is all indoors.
Now for the wineries, there is a well known winery called Grgich Hills Estate that is leading the way with innovative wine practices but is rich in history. Milijenko “Mike” Grgich was the winemaker at Chateau Montelena in 1973 and his Chardonnay vintage was selected to compete in the historic Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, where it was ranked the number one white wine. Mr. Grgich’s vintage put Napa in the ranks amongst French wines. The property has everything you want to see from a historic winery. When you are done there, Hall Winery is the complete contrast to Grgich Hills Estate. Hall recently built a brand new 45,000 sq. ft. tasting center. It is ultra modern with various art installations everywhere. Look for Bunny Foo Foo from the highway and you know you have arrived. By now I’m sure you’re hungry but still want to visit more wineries; the answer to that is a tourist favorite, V. Sattui. They have over 200 of the world’s cheeses and recently started to cure and cut their own meats. You can customize your very own picnic and have it on property as they have over 25 picnic tables.
